July and August Newsletter 2024

We are excited to share important updates as our survivors continue to grow and thrive through various initiatives with YOUR SUPPORT!

Hospitality Training

Our survivors are actively participating in hospitality training, where they learn new skills and practice lessons during their daily tuition sessions. In addition to technical skills, they are improving their english communication, which will be crucial for their future career opportunities. This holistic training empowers them to confidently step into new roles and responsibilities.

Spiritual Mentorship

At Light House Disha, we believe that faith is a key strength that can help our survivors navigate crises and build resilience. Through spiritual mentorship, we teach the girls the power of intercessory prayers and how faith can help them cope with life's challenges. A verse we often reflect on is from Psalm 147:3 "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." This teaching has provided healing and comfort to many as they come to understand the power of prayer and faith in their journey of restoration.

Field Visit: Community Intervention

Community outreach remains one of our most powerful tools for change. Our field visits focus on raising awareness about human trafficking and building a stronger community response. These interventions help the survivors' communities better understand the tactics used by traffickers and reduce the stigma surrounding survivors. We also work to strengthen local protective measures, so communities are better equipped to prevent trafficking and offer support to survivors.

Art and Craft Activities

Thanks to your support, we continue to engage our survivors in art and craft activities, which serve as both healing and recreational outlets. These creative sessions allow the girls to express themselves, build confidence, and find joy in the present moment, contributing to their overall well-being.

Awareness in Government School

In July, we collaborated with the Border Security Forces to conduct an awareness program in a government school. Our social worker presented the basics of human trafficking, helping adolescents recognize safety strategies and be aware of common tactics used by traffickers. The session also highlighted the influence of social media in grooming young girls and how traffickers use this to lure victims. Through these workshops, we emphasize the importance of education as a tool for prevention, empowering students to protect themselves and their peers.

Sarah's Journey: Enrolled in Advanced Fashion and Garment Making

We are thrilled to share that Sarah, one of our survivors, has taken a significant step forward by enrolling in Advanced Fashion and Garment Making classes. After months of counseling and support from our team, Sarah made the decision to further enhance her sewing and tailoring skills. This training will not only provide her with livelihood opportunities but also enable her to give back by sharing these skills with other survivors. Sarah has also begun volunteering at the center, assisting with daily tasks alongside our caregiver.

Thank you for standing by Sarah as she embraces this new opportunity. We continue to pray for her son, who is showing considerable improvement in his homeschooling lessons. Our goal is to enroll him in a local government school soon, as we work closely with him through our daily home-schooling sessions. Your support is making this possible.

Update on the Previous Batch of Survivors

We are delighted to share that Binu and Roja, survivors from the previous batch, are adjusting well in their on-the-job training. Both recently received their first salaries, a significant milestone in their journey toward independence. In a beautiful display of responsibility, they sent a portion of their earnings to support their families and opened bank savings accounts to manage the rest.

Binu has shared an inspiring testimony about how the habit of prayer, instilled during her time at Light House, has profoundly helped her navigate the challenges of transitioning into her new work life. She also shared that after months of prayer, her previously irregular menstrual cycle has now become regular. This is a powerful reminder of how the values we cultivate within the survivors help them in practical ways as they continue to rebuild their lives.

These personal stories reaffirm the transformative power of Christ in the lives of the women and girls we serve. We see firsthand the healing, restoration, and empowerment that faith brings to them. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as a team as we minister to and serve these brave women on their journey toward restoration and hope.

The Impact of Your Monthly Support

Thanks to your monthly support, we were recently able to install a water purifier at our center, significantly cutting down on the daily costs of purchasing water jars. This practical step allows us to reallocate funds toward other critical needs. Your continued support also helps us cover logistical costs and day-to-day operations, ensuring that we can focus on what matters most—rescuing and restoring lives. Every contribution you make is helping us sustain the work we do.

We are deeply grateful for your unwavering support, which enables us to continue our mission of rescuing, restoring, and empowering lives. Your generosity fuels our work, helping survivors regain their dignity, independence, and hope for a better future.

Update on Bunu's Treatment

We are glad to share that Bunu is more than halfway through her treatment, and by the end of September, she will complete the final cycles of immunotherapy and chemotherapy. It has been a true miracle to be alive and to access the best possible treatment, all thanks to your financial gifts and prayers. Words cannot express the depth of my gratitude for rooting for my life. I am not only able to heal and regain my strength, but I can also continue to champion the work that is so close to my heart. I feel the Lord’s love and embrace through your love for me.

A verse that strengthens me during this journey is Isaiah 40:31, "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Thank you for believing in my healing and for supporting the work of Light House Disha. Your gifts allow me to continue trusting Jesus and seeing His love unfold through each of you.

While we celebrate the progress made, there is still much work to do. In a world where 1 in 3 women experiences violence at some point in their lives, women’s safety remains a pressing issue. Human trafficking, domestic abuse, and exploitation continue to impact vulnerable women and girls, particularly those from marginalized communities.

By sowing into the lives of these women, you are transforming them into women after God’s own heart, daughters whom the Lord cherishes. Your contributions help fulfill God’s purpose in their lives, lifting them from despair and guiding them toward restoration and empowerment.

I am deeply moved by the countless lives we have been able to help transform over the years. This work is possible because of you, because you believed in the dream I had as a 28-year-old woman in India. You gave wings to that dream, and your support is not just sowing into my life but into the lives of the many women and girls I have had the honor to impact. The powerful manifest presence of the Holy Spirit has been with us every step of the way.

Our Journey and Story is a testimony of God’s miraculous work, and it would not have been possible without the belief and prayers of each of you at Revival Fires. I send each one of you heaps of love and gratitude. Thank you for standing with me through the darkest times, leading me to the light of Jesus.

As we continue to serve these women and girls, many come to us with lives shattered by exploitation, trauma, and loss. Yet, through your support and God’s grace, we witness them bloom like roses, their colours handpicked by God Himself. He refills them with purpose, light, freedom, and restoration. As the scripture says in Isaiah 61:3, "To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." Thank you for being part of their transformation, helping them rise from ashes to bloom beautifully in God's light. Together, we continue to see His miracles unfold.
